Turning long-form webinar recordings into ready-to-publish highlight clips

Built an AI-powered platform that captures, transcribes, and analyzes long-form webinars to automatically surface highlights and generate short-form clips, architected to support 48-hour captures and audiences of 10,000+ live attendees.

The challenge

Teams running long webinars had no practical way to turn hours of recorded video into searchable, shareable content. Finding the handful of moments worth clipping meant manually scrubbing through recordings that could run for days, and the process didn't scale as attendance and recording volume grew.

Our approach

We treated capture, transcription, and highlight detection as separate pipeline stages that could each scale independently, rather than one monolithic job. That let us support very long recordings (up to 48 hours) and design the ingestion layer to handle spikes from large live audiences without one slow stage blocking the rest.

The solution

We built the platform on Vue/Nuxt and NestJS, with FFmpeg for capture and processing, AssemblyAI for transcription, and OpenAI for highlight detection over the transcript. Mux and Shotstack handled video delivery and automated clip assembly, with WebSockets keeping the UI updated as each processing stage completed.
